Global Corporate Engagement
Mercy For Animals collaborates with companies to improve animal welfare standards in line with growing expectations from consumers, regulators, investors, and other stakeholders.
What We Do
Our corporate engagement team partners with companies to advance animal welfare across their supply chains. In recent years, hundreds of companies have adopted meaningful policies to improve conditions for chickens raised for meat, eliminate cages for hens laying eggs, and phase out crates for mother pigs. With many implementation deadlines fast approaching, Mercy For Animals holds companies accountable to the public by calling for transparent progress reporting and publication of full implementation plans.
Importance of Corporate Work
Corporations hold tremendous power and influence to change animals’ lives for the better. A single welfare policy can alleviate suffering for millions.
Our Impact
Globally, Mercy For Animals is focused on improving conditions for hens laying eggs. Hens worldwide are crammed together in cages, unable to spread their wings. This extreme confinement causes chronic pain, bone fractures, and severe stress—hens in cages endure at least 60% more time in pain than those in higher-welfare systems.
Influential companies and market leaders around the globe have committed to over 2,700 corporate cage-free policies that phase out cages for hens in their global supply chains. Mercy For Animals has supported several market leaders in adopting cage-free policies and now works to hold them accountable—ensuring their promises translate into real change for millions of hens.
